Comfort Culture

9 – 21 January, 2023

Curator’s Statement

Tapropane Art is excited to announce our second exhibition in Rome, Comfort Culture

The Comfort Culture explores why some of us consume the same paintings, TV shows and books time and time again.

There is in the Comfort Culture the inimitable feeling that comes from luxuriating in the familiar. Leafing through heavily annotated passages in books, or returning to a favorite image or poem, we’re reminded that the beautiful can be just as comforting as the wise, scandalous or poignant. You may revisit a painting in a gallery’s permanent collection and find that each time you see it, it appears softer around the edges—kinder, more closely acquainted.

Comfort Culture is an opportunity for artists to exhibit one or more works in the gallery as part of a collective exhibition. These two weeks’ exhibition work well as an introduction to the exhibition experience in a central Rome Galleries and are a comprehensive way of presenting a limited body of work alongside other artists.

The exhibition will run from 9th –  21st Jan, with an reception on 21st Sat 6-8PM
